Dark times drive this desperation you don’t see
While I grasp for secrets so quietly
_____________
Are you coming around tonight
If you’re late it’s fine and okay with me
You’ll see...
when you arrive
I’ve most likely died
And buried everything
What you can bring
Won’t mean a thing
Unless it’s to please
Our need for unease
Tie me up until I cannot breathe
Cut the lights now
Or I’ll close my eyes
It’s not what I need
And you agreed? Right? You’re right there with me?
A little thank you
It’s all I can give
Just don’t talk to me
And don’t watch me breathe
What you say
Can’t break them away
The hurt’s what we crave
That’s why you can’t stay
I can be brave and watch what I say
I’ve got nothing to say about you
I’m doing fine keeping away
From the things I can’t say
Touch me now
I’m far away
So very far away
And that’s where I’ll stay

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
