Close the blinds for the time you’ll find
when she’s
gone
I’ll be there for you
Nights hit hard and I let down my guard
When it fails — I don’t want me too
The time away’s left me down & and I’m grey
And I doubt that I’ll follow through
The months that have passed and I’m searching at last
What I’ve found’s kept me lonely & blue
I’m the ride when the gulf gets too wide
And you need a helping hand through
It’s a ways from the taxing past days
But we’ve kept it from killing us too
Seasons change but I’m down for the same
If you want me I’ll be there for you
Once it’s gone does it all fade away
And the memories disappear too?
Your eyes
are pulsing
like the stars shining down
on my arm
while I float
in darkness, thinking
Your words
What they mean
To me.
Do mine?
Hit you?
Oh Hey
it’s me
Our screens light up
With thoughts passing through
how’re you?
Wisened eyes
Take them in
And want
what is no longer true
Your eyes
Shine like
The waves that I no longer
Keep as mine
And I’m ready to stop
Thinking I’ve kept it all true
For you
When I’m bound by the violence of you
By the violence of you

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
